Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dental treatments can:

  • Change the size, shape, and alignment of certain teeth
  • Improve or correct bites
  • Repair decayed, or damaged teeth, and replace missing ones.
  • Fill in unattractive spaces between teeth
  • Brighten the color of teeth
  • Replace old, unattractive or discolored dental treatments

Teeth whitening

Bleaching, or whitening, is a non-invasive treatment that reduces staining on teeth. It’s become one of the most common cosmetic procedures today because everyone values a bright, white smile.

Some whitening systems work at home, but others must be performed in a dentist’s office. Whitening does not work on fillings, so if you have any, you may want to look at getting them replaced to match your newly whitened teeth.

Whitening should be repeated every several years, or more often if you have staining habits like smoking, or drinking tea or coffee.

Composite Fillings

Dental fillings fill up cavities to prevent further damage to the tooth from breakage or food getting trapped.

The big advantage to composite fillings is that they are the same color as your natural teeth, so people often can’t tell the difference.

Once any decay is removed, the open space is thoroughly cleaned, and the composite material is placed, molded into shape, and polished.

Porcelain Crowns

Crowns are full coverage restorations that restores the tooth shape, size, strength, function, and natural appearance.

They typically take two appointments. On the first visit, the dentist will remove any decay, fracture and/or defects, color match the shade of your tooth, clean the site, and place a temporary filling. If necessary your dentist will use additional material for retention in preparation of your crown. At your second visit the permanent crown will be placed.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin layers of porcelain material that correct minor cosmetic problems with teeth, including crooked, distorted, or badly discolored teeth. As with other cosmetic procedures, porcelain is popular because of its natural appearance.

Veneers are generally placed on front teeth to create a beautiful smile. Veneers are not permanent and have to be replaced eventually, but they are still durable.
